Description

InnVision Shelter Network (IVSN) is one of the largest and most effective providers of shelter/housing and supportive services across Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Peninsula. IVSN operates over 18 major sites from San Jose to Daly City, providing emergency, transitional, and permanent supportive housing, along with a breadth of supportive resources to help clients secure a place to call home. The organization serves thousands of homeless clients annually through its "Beyond the Bed" service model -- a proven methodology that has historically delivered a 90% success rate in returning program graduates to permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Under the supervisior of the Sr. Director of Grants, the Grants Manager is responsible for overseeing the timely submission of InnVision Shelter Network's foundation and government grant proposals and reports. This position will oversee a team of two grant writers with a shared annual revenue goal of $9M or more in combined public and private funds.

This position works closely with the Development team members to pursue and achieve the fundraising goals of the Development Department in order to execute IVSN's strategic plan and carry out its mission.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
GRANT WRITING & REPORTING: Develop, prepare, and edit grant proposals and reports for foundations, corporations, and government funders. Develop expert knowledge of IVSN programs and services in order to prepare accurate and persuasive funding requests and reports. Collaborate with finance staff, direct services staff, and contracts compliance staff to obtain necessary data, information, and materials for proposal and attachment content. Prepare multiple simultaneous proposals and reports for on-time submission under tight and shifting deadlines, while maintaining a consistently high standard for quality. Delegate grant writing assignments to grant writing staff and manage team's adherence to deadlines and quality of content.

GRANTS MANAGEMENT: Supervision of Grant Writing annual grant/proposal Schedule (for submissions and reports), and management of two grant writers. Maintain calendar of public and private grant proposals and reports through Raiser's Edge database to ensure on-time submission of all proposals and reports. Ensure Grant Compliance by collaborating with finance, direct services, and contracts compliance staff , as grants are executed in the field. Lead/attend bi-weekly Grants Management meeting.

GRANT RESEARCH: Research the funding requirements of potential new public and private funding sources and opportunities. Identify and evaluate prospects for new grants including review of government RFPs, and attendance at bidders' conferences and information sessions.

CONTEXT RESEARCH: Conduct research to develop and maintain knowledge of and expertise in policies and theories concerning homelessness and homeless service providers. Conduct research to provide supporting information for grant proposals, such as labor market and economic conditions data.

SUPERVISE FUNDER DATABASE & RECORDS: In collaboration with the DB Manager, maintain grant activity files in Raiser's Edge, and in electronic and paper records. Generate database queries and reports as required by the department.

GENERAL DUTIES: Participate in Department meetings, All-Staff meetings, and other agency-wide meetings. Represent InnVision Shelter Network in a professional manner at events, public speaking activities, check presentations or other functions as requested. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor's Degree required
o Commitment to high-quality work representative of IVSN's mission and values
o Five years of relevant experience with proven track record, including complex content creation in a deadline-drive environment
o Excellent grant writing skills including ability to work collaboratively to create content
o Proven ability to respond to multiple and shifting deadlines, and balance multiple simultaneous projects
o Self-Starter - Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, and to analyze and resolve problems
o Attention to detail and superb organizational skills, with consistent ability to follow-through
o Strong written and verbal communications skills, including editing and proofreading skills, and in providing feedback for grant writing team in this area.
o Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate and collaborate with wide variety of individuals, including finance and direct services staff
o Ability to interact effectively and professionally with funders, volunteers, and the general public
o Knowledge of local funding environment and local housing and homelessness issues strongly preferred
o Strong computer skills and database management experience including MS Word and Excel (Raiser's Edge experience preferred)
