The New York Common Pantry, the largest community based emergency feeding organization in New York City, is seeking an energetic and multi-talented Disaster Relief Coordinator to spearhead NY Common Pantry's Super-storm Sandy Relief efforts. The Disaster Relief Coordinator is responsible for intake and inventory of relief food supplies; creating disaster relief food packages; loading the cargo van; driving supply to disaster relief partners in affected areas of the city; maintaining all reporting of activities and meal counts; and working with disaster relief volunteers. The Disaster Relief Coordinator will maintain communication with the relief partners to ensure food packages delivered match needs of each of the partner distribution sites. Depending on the needs of affected areas, work may be diverted toward food rescue for the NY Common Pantry, based on need. Requires up to 30 hours of work a week and requires working on Saturday and Sunday.

Strong math and critical thinking skills required for reporting as prescribed by the New York State Department of Health's Hunger Prevention Nutrition Assistance Program; Previous experience in nutrition and calculating meal factors a plus; Must have a driver's license with a clean driving record; Able to drive a large cargo van; Able to lift heavy boxes of 50lbs or more a must; Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with diverse populations; Able to work with volunteers and employees of NY Common Pantry; Experience working with food programs and large scale food production is preferred; Excellent interpersonal skills; Weekend work is necessary;
