Description

SCO/Center for Family Life seeks a MSW with a background in Theater.

This MSW/Activity Specialist will be part of the Senior Staff Team; Group/Activity Leader, Assistant to Co-Director; with possible supervision of program components. MSW partners with other senior staff in facilitating interdisciplinary classroom projects with 6th graders. M-F full-time hours will vary.

MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as part of program leadership team
  • Lead arts activities (specifically acting) with middle school participants in afterschool program
  • Write and direct fall literary-based musical
  • Intervene with participants around behavior and help connect families to resources when needed
  • Assist co-director in management of grants and supervision of certain program components.
  • Partner with classroom teacher in twice-weekly advisory sessions for 9th, 10th, or 11th grade students at SunsetParkHigh School.
  • The individual in this position will be part of our "dual-campus" model and will have responsibilities at Middle School 136/821 and SunsetParkHigh School, 5 blocks away.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Degree: MSW
  • Years of Experience: Prior experience in afterschool programs, camp, and/or working with groups of middle and/or high school students a plus.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Must be a team player who is willing to go "above and beyond" for participants and colleagues; strong boundaries with pre-teens/teens
