Associate Director of Foundation and Government Grants

Description

SCO is looking for a well- qualified Associate Director of Foundation and Government Grants.

The Associate Director of Institutional Giving will report directly to the Director of Institutional Advancement and will be responsible for supervising all aspects of contributed income from foundations, corporate foundations and government entities.

MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with senior program staff to develop and implement a foundation and government fundraising plan that includes strategies to support and renew current grants while expanding the agency's foundation and government funding base.
  • Collaborate with senior program staff to conceive and develop funding strategies.
  • Manage the production and completion of SCO government and foundation proposals/applications and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. Oversee grant calendar.
  • Supervise all aspects of contributed income from foundations, donor advised funds, corporate foundations and government entities.
  • Write major grant proposals and manage and review the work of two grant writers.
  • Strategize with SCO's leadership to promote and positioning the organization's initiatives to maximize long term funding projections.
  • As appropriate, initiate, develop and sustain key relationships within the grant making community.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Degree: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Years of Experience: At least five years of experience in institutional giving, preferably with a human services organization.
  • A proven track record of obtaining foundation and government support is essential.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; Exceptional analytical abilities, including the capacity to strategize and use creative approaches.
  • Technical experience, including a working knowledge of Raiser's Edge.
  • Familiarity with tracking trends and developments in philanthropic giving.
  • Commitment to the SCO's mission and to working with children and families.
