Victim Advocate

The Philadelphia Children's Alliance, an independent non-profit organization, promotes healing and justice for child sexual abuse victims in Philadelphia by conducting state-of-the-art forensic interviews, providing victim support services and collaborating with other agencies to facilitate an integrated response.

The Alliance is currently seeking a Victim Services Family Advocate, to coordinate services to the families and children that come to the agency during and after the child abuse investigation. Additional responsibilities of this position include:

  • Serving as liaison between children and their families and all agencies involved with child sexual abuse
  • Crisis counseling to non-offending caretakers at the time of their visit
  • Developing and maintaining resources for families to provide education on sexual abuse and to explain the forensic interviewing and investigative process
  • Maintaining updated information/directory of treatment services for children and linking families to appropriate services in conjunction with Department of Human Services such as therapy and medical appointments
  • Investigative case tracking and support throughout the entire investigative process
  • Providing court accompaniment for children and their families
  • Facilitating Court School sessions through the District Attorney's Office
  • Follow-up communication with families
  • Assisting in the facilitation of a psycho-educational support group for non-offending caretakers and a self-esteem group for children

Requirements:

Master's degree in Social Work or a related discipline required;

Minimum of 1-2 years experience with victim advocacy and/or child welfare required;

Excellent oral and writing skills required; Experience working with diverse populations required.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates encouraged to apply.
