The Workforce Coordinator will report to the Director of Workforce Development. He/she will also work with staff outside of the Workforce Team and may also be given other responsibilities by the Executive Director and/or Deputy Director.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or associate's degree plus at least 2 years of job placement experience or high school diploma and at least 4 years of job placement experience.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to serve two distinct groups of clients – local jobseekers and industrial employers.
- Willingness and ability to pursue new business, both in person and via phone.
- Creativity and enthusiasm, with a willingness to contribute new ideas.
- Knowledge of Brooklyn and its economic landscape a big plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct bi-monthly orientation sessions where he/she will interview applicants to determine their job readiness, skills, and interest in various types of work.
- Contact employers and applicants regarding job placement opportunities.
- Provide Director of Workforce Development with monthly reports on metrics regarding placements, job orders, and retention, as well as informal reports at each weekly meeting.
- Meet with businesses to secure job orders and local partners to ensure effective collaboration.
- Contribute to Workforce strategy, and share ideas with Workforce Team regarding how to improve programming and increase placements and retention.
- Assist with the marketing of programs, including outreach to businesses and CBOs, as well as information sessions in various settings.
- Ensure database is updated with current information regarding all applicants and businesses.
- Contribute substantive ideas to the Workforce Program, and increase role in program development over time.
