The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill a position of Programme Officer at P3 level, which will be based in Abeche,Chad.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Education:
-University degree in one or more of the following disciplines: economics, agriculture, international affairs, business administration, social sciences, development studies or a field relevant to international development assistance.
Experience:
- At least five years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in international humanitarian or development work or other related fields i.e public sector management, development projects, emergency assistance, and/or operational aspects of national, bilateral or multilateral food aid or commercial transactions
Skills & Knowledge:
- Good analytical and problem solving skills; Resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, tact, negotiating skills;
- Ability to explain projects to field counterparts and to communicate with Government and partners clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; Good understanding of project lifecycle, humanitarian principles and tools, programmes and transfer modalities;- Ability to work in a team, and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds; ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with counterparts;
-Ability to cope with situations which may threaten health or safety; flexibility in accepting work assignments outside normal desk description;
-Willingness to travel for extended periods of time;
-Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan and those under his/her supervision;
-Training and/or experience utilising computers, including word processing, spreadsheet

Language:
- Working knowledge (proficiency/level C) of French and English.
This position requires fluency in French and excellent writing skills.
Desirable skills:
- Knowledge of relevant field of specialization (food security, nutrition, humanitarian, development,social protection, etc);
- Experience in the design and/or implementation of programmes deploying cash & voucher transfer modalities.
