Position Overview

The Manager of Curriculum and Assessment (MCA) promotes and implements best practices for curriculum and assessment planning, delivery, and alignment across the UNO Charter School Network. In addition, the MCA is accountable for the execution of formative and summative assessments given K-12 annually.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develops the overarching vision and goals for UNO's K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 academic curriculum
  • Leads the development of both the elementary and secondary curriculum programs, selecting the appropriate materials and resources for each grade level/content area
  • Assesses the current curriculum planning and implementation structure throughout the network and provides recommendations for further developments and/or improvements
  • Creates and implements an annual curriculum review protocol to ensure rigor and alignment with interim assessments
  • Manages the network's successful transition to the Common Core Standards for the 2013-2014 School Year
  • Designs planning templates (i.e., year-long maps, unit plans, lesson plans, mini-lessons, etc.) that empower teachers to prepare for and provide instruction that is specially-tailored to their students' needs, with the Common Core Standards/College Readiness Standards as the driving force behind their planning
  • Facilitates collaborative committees of directors and teachers to make curriculum decisions for specific content areas
  • Evaluates effectiveness of existing assessment systems and coordinates adjustments and/or improvements
  • Designs and implements a rigorous, network-wide interim assessment data analysis protocol
  • Coordinates and executes preparation for Network standardized tests (STEP, NWEA, ISAT, EPAS)
  • Ensures continual, tight alignment among curriculum, instruction and assessments as academic program evolves

Qualifications:

Experience

  • Four (4) or more years of teaching experience (required)
  • One (1) or more years of administrative or management experience (preferred)
  • Proven track record of student academic progress/achievement under candidate's instructional leadership

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in education and/or related field (required)
  • Master's Degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or related field (required)
