Position: Residential Program Director
Supervisor: Director of Special Initiatives
Overview: The Door's mission is to empower young people ages 12-21 to reach their potential by providing accessible, comprehensive youth development services – health care, counseling, education, legal services, the arts and recreation in a diverse and supportive environment. The Residential Program Director will oversee all aspects of the Door's two housing initiatives, the Lee House and East Ninth Street Foyer. The two buildings provide a total of 99 units of permanent, supported housing for young adults aged 18 - 26 at risk of homelessness, including young people aging out of foster care, young people with mental illness, and chronically homeless young people.
The Program Director will be a proven leader who is able to manage with a good deal of independence. He or she will be the lead manager on-site at the Lee House responsible for daily operations, program quality, partner relationships, program reporting, managing expenses, collaboration with other Door programs, and the overall direction of the program and its staff. In addition, he or she will manage the East Ninth Street Program Supervisor and will engage with the staff and residents of both facilities to provide exceptional support and encouragement for the groups to reach their potential.
Responsibilities:
• Provide oversight to all residential programs, ensuring successful implementation, evaluation and coordination of services. • Provide leadership and guidance for existing and new staff members, and ensure their safety and ability to handle crisis situations. • Recruit, interview, hire and train new staff. • Directly supervise the day to day operations and programs of the Lee House. • Oversee the programs and budgets of both Lee House and East Ninth Street Foyer. • Ensure all residential programs remain in compliance with audit and government regulations and maintain working knowledge of any changes in the law and best practices. • Ensure accuracy and security of recordkeeping and maintain confidentiality in all dealings with staff and tenants. • Provide direct supervision to all Lee House Staff and East Ninth Street Foyer supervisor, regularly offering feedback, training and professional growth opportunities, verbal and written improvement plans when necessary and completing evaluations. • Ensure successful integration of supportive services provided by other Door programs with housing initiatives and residents' needs and develop new programming as necessary. • Collaborate with other Program Directors to evaluate service integration and outcomes across the organization and identify areas requiring improvement. • Develop and maintain relationships with the community and act as a spokesperson for The Door when called upon. • Attend management meetings and trainings as required and support all strategic, organizational initiatives. • Execute other relevant initiatives or projects as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology or related field required • Minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience in the human services, social work or related field • Minimum of 5 years' experience providing services to adolescents, including assessment and counseling • Minimum of 5 years' experience in non-profit management with a proven track record in successful implementation of housing programs and development of programs for special needs populations • Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience with strong skills in program development, policy and procedures • Excellent oral and written communications skills • Strong organizational and time management skills • Demonstrated understanding and practice of positive youth development principles • Possess the ability to drive the initiatives of the organization, interact effectively with a diverse staff and be comfortable building successful relationships with tenants, staff and the community
Salary: Commensurate with experience, plus generous benefits package Hours: 35 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as needed
