UCDS Studio Infant/Toddler Teacher

The UCDS Studio program seeks 1 part-time, experienced teacher to work in our innovative Infant/Toddler program beginning July 1, 2013

Position Purpose:

To support the UCDS Studio teaching teams in their professional development and the program's pursuit of a dynamic, Reggio-inspired learning environment and curriculum.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teaching teams to create an environment that represents the key components of the Reggio-Emilia approach to early childhood education.
  • Aid in the documentation of children's growth and development.
  • Work with teaching teams to use documentation of children's growth and development to plan and implement an emergent curriculum that is reflective of the needs and interests of both individual children and the group as a whole.
  • Work side-by-side with teachers to help support the teacher's professional goals.
  • Offer classroom support in both the Infant/Toddler classroom and Toddler/Preschool classroom.

Requirements:

Successful candidates must have prior experience working in early childhood education. Knowledge of or experience working in programs inspired by the Reggio-Emilia approach is preferred. Successful candidates must honor individual learning styles, be able to work as part of a team, demonstrate excellent communication and classroom management skills and creatively use the latest educational research in their work with children. Candidates must also be flexible and willing to step-in to new situations at a moments notice. Bachelor's Degree or comparable Early Childhood Education credits and experience with children ages birth-3 years old required.

Drawing from the most current scientific research on early learning and brain development and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, the UCDS Studio program celebrates each child as unique, competent, and ready to learn. The Studio provides a stimulating, secure environment for children to explore, question, discover and create. The arts are integrated as tools for cognitive, linguistic and social development and expression as children build understanding, make connections and foster relationships.
