Description

The Manager of Performing Arts Services for Campus Venue Services supervises the Performing Arts Support division of Campus Venue Services at Princeton University. The Manager will have direct oversight and responsibility for Richardson Auditorium and the Frist Theater , and will develop a centralized unit capable of providing production, operation, and front of house services for arts events throughout campus, serving student organizations, academic departments, and external clients. With outstanding customer service and a commitment to the arts, the Manager will lead a team of staff dedicated and capable of exceeding expectations of the University community.

The Manager provides administrative, planning, and leadership for over 500 annual arts events throughout campus, leading a team of professional and student staff who provide expertise and excellence in lighting, sound, video, staging, and front of house services. With effective management skills, the Manager will create a staff environment rich in communications and collaborative work.

Bringing a strong knowledge of production, including lighting, audio, video, and staging, house and stage management, ticketing, and event planning, the Manager provides direction for the event support team and consultation for artists and presenters. In addition, the Manager provides strategic planning for arts venues, helping to maintain integrity of venues and developing plans for technical advancements to meet the changing needs of presenters.

The Manager is fiscally responsible, managing fees and revenue associated with supported events, developing ticketing strategies, and overseeing operating budgets. In addition, the Manager will develop and implement process mapping for procedures. The Manager provides leadership and direction for the performing arts support team, including front and back of house services. The Manager provides direction and professional development for the staff.

Serving as a liaison with presenters and partners, the Manager provides high level support, leadership, and planning assistance for events related to the performing arts throughout the campus. The Manager works closely with staff, advisory groups, and campus partners on scheduling and the enabling of performing arts events, bringing stakeholders together to plan and manage scheduling conflicts. Working closely with staff, the Manager develops services for patrons, including customer service and accessibility. Collaborating with campus partners, the Manager assists with the plans for patron safety, parking and transportation.

The Manager is an advocate for the arts and provides consultation with the development of communication and marketing plans for events, including online presence and social media.

The Manager, working collaboratively with campus partners, including the Department of Music, Lewis Center, Chapel, ODUS, Graduate College, Residential Colleges, USG, GSG, PAC, Athletics, and Conference and Event Services, provides leadership with the logistical planning and support of performing arts events. The Manager and staff will provide support for performing arts events throughout the campus, including conventional and non-conventional performance venues and spaces. With a focus on customer service, the Manager will maintain a team of exceptional support staff, exceeding the needs of patrons, clients, and campus partners.

Job Requirements

Position Requires:

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

- Minimum three years' experience in performing arts management and/or operations, or comparable experience

- Willingness and ability to work with a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays and long hours.

- Excellent management and communication skills

- Ability to assist all levels of student, departmental, and external performers and presenters, from professional to novice

The Final Candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check.

Preferred:

- Master's degree or equivalent work experience

- Progressive production/operation management experience in the performing arts

- Experience and knowledge of academic settings

- Strong understanding of all aspects of event support, including scheduling, planning, house management, stage management, lighting, audio, video, etc.

- Strong computer skills and understanding of scheduling and ticketing systems
