The PAZ @214 Elementary After-School program is looking for Art Specialists to teach at P.S. 214 in West Farms area of the Bronx.
Full job description follows. We are looking for people to teach in the middle school in the following areas:
Art, Dance,Health Education, Theater and actvity specialist apply here!
We are not limited to these specific areas – so if you are an artist/ educator who works in a different media and are excited to teach youth, send us your resume and tell us what you do!
The job is 3 hours per day (3 one-hour lessons), 4-5 days a week. Pay is $20-$25 per hour depending on experience.
A sense of humor is a must! Bilingual (English-Spanish) also preferred. Applicants should have a strong background in their subject area, and experience working with youth.

PAZ: Peace from A-Z After-School Program Music/Dance/Theater/ Health/Sports Specialist Job Description
The PAZ @214 Middle After-School program aims to develop our youth academics, social, and physical competence through activities in conflict resolution, reading and writing, cooperative games and sports, and community service. We will create a safe environment where children can have fun participating in a variety of enriching extended day activities.
As part of this partnership, Specialists are responsible for:
Organizing and preparing three one- hour art lessons for groups of 15 children in the specialist's area of expertise (Theater, Dance, Music, Cooperative Sports and Games, or Health)
Incorporating P.S. 214's Social Emotional Leaning Philosophy into your after-school classroom behavior plan. (We will respect ourselves as well as others. We will respect our school environment. We will use Conflict Resolution strategies to resolve our conflicts. We will all be active learners.)
Communicating issues, concerns, suggestions to the site coordinator
Involving the counselor or assistant assigned to your group in the instruction of your lessons
Modeling behavior that reflects understanding of conflict resolution principles for students, staff, and parents.
Collaborating with other PAZ staff on larger group projects with the students
Assisting in the production of culminating events
Knowing and following any written procedures for basic administrative and housekeeping tasks (i.e., recording attendance, care of the classroom and school property, recording and reporting of incidents, etc.) as required.
Attending training sessions provided by The Morningside Center for Teaching Social Responsibility and/ or The After-School Corporation
Activity Specialists report directly to the After-School Program Director. PAZ is a collaboration between The Morningside Center for Teaching Social Responsibility, TASC, and a middle school in West Farms Area, of the Bronx Bilingual (English - Spanish) a plus. Patience and a sense of humor necessary! Bachelor's degree preferred, but currently enrolled college students are also encouraged to apply.
