Medical Director, Adult Life Cycle

Full-time, Exempt

The Medical Director, Adult Life Cycle, is responsible for providing leadership for the adult life cycle area. He/she is assigned clinical responsibilities for .6 FTE and the administrative responsibilities below at .4 FTE.

Medical Director Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to support quality care delivery for the adult life cycle.
  • In concert with SBFHC's Vice President, implement best practices that support realization of, and improvements to, the following:

- Patient satisfaction

- Panel fidelity

- Productivity

- Patient enrollment in eligible payer programs

- Patient cycle times

- Appropriate clinical outcomes, including those required by auditors, regulators, and programs (including Patient Centered Medical Home and meaningful use indicators).

  • Review of reports related to the above and coordination with life cycle clinicians to develop appropriate plan(s) of action for approval.
  • Monitor compliance with and success of plans of action in realizing goals.
  • Report progress at Directors and Providers Meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • In addition to the clinical qualifications associated with the primary position, the successful candidate will be able to lead diverse groups of individuals, interpret and analyze data, and work cooperatively to strike a balance between the specific needs of the lifecycle for which he/she is responsible and the overall goals/needs of the organization.

Physician Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical case management support to staff providers
  • Provide primary and family planning care to SBFHC's patients; perform patient assessments, physical examinations, order/perform necessary laboratory and diagnostic tests, proficiency testing, prescribe and dispense medications in compliance with SBFHC's established medical protocols
  • Meet with providers on an ongoing, regular basis to discuss concerns and opportunities for care improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Valid medical license in state of California with no pending or previous disciplinary action from any state licensing entity
  • Current Board Certification in Family or Internal Medicine
  • Current DEA license
  • Current CPR certification, health care provider
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art medical, scientific and treatment methods in area of specialty, and an awareness of medical, educational and psychosocial intervention procedures
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal skills
  • Ability to relate and communicate well with a diverse patient population
  • Ability to work within a team setting and with volunteers
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful
  • Flexibility with work sites and schedules
