This LCSW for our Bronx Children's Services programs, provides assistance in understanding illness and disabilities. Helps resolve personal, financial and environment difficulties. Enables and empowers families to negotiate educational and clinical systesm and to advocate appropriately. Develops collaborative relationships with other disciplines. This position is for
Major Responsibilies Include:
o Participates in Initial Evaluation and Intake processes
o Develops initial and annual social service summary on each student on his/her caseload including recommendations
o Integrates therapeutic intervention techniques into school programs or home of students served through consultation with parent/guardian and staff at meetings, case conferences or thorugh other informal contacts
o Assists families in obtaining services such as housing and residential placement and other services
o Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews for purposes of planning, implementation and monitoring of IFSP/IEP's
o Makes regular home visits to families on the case load
o Communicates with staff about goals, rights of persons receiving services, confidentiality, family interaction etc.
Performs other related duties as requested.\
Qualifications:
o Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program
o At least one year of prior experience as a Social Worker preferred
o New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
o Excellent communication skills (Ability to read, write, speak and understand English)
o Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees, co-workers, students, families and outside contacts
o Strong organization skills along with ability to work independently, handle multi-tasks and demonstrate sound judgment and the capacity to resond to unusual situations
o Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective actions
o Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and knowledge of appropriate software
