Job summary statement:

The Fee for Service Clinician will primarily provide treatment and intervention to individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues. The clinician will identify and utilize client's strengths, needs, abilities and preferences to develop individualized service plans. The clinician will facilitate substance abuse, co-occurring and/or mental health treatment for individuals and families and psycho-educational groups using evidence-based practice and refer clients to necessary psychiatric care. In addition, he/she will conduct mental health screenings and assessments.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops therapeutic rapport with consumers.
  • Develop an integrated substance abuse and mental health treatment plan for each client assigned.
  • Engages client in services and monitors and advocates for progress.
  • With consumer, completes comprehensive diagnostic assessment and develops Individualized Service Plans.
  • Develops Individual Service Plans that are strength-based and client-centered; identifies S.M.A.R.T. goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes case conferencing and the program team to coordinate and ensure client treatment plans are effective and appropriate.
  • Engages external and internal service providers to better meet clients needs
  • Provides individual, family and group treatment using evidence-based practices including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Relapse Prevention, Relational and Psychodynamic therapy, etc.
  • Facilitates substance abuse, co-occurring and/or mental health treatment groups (Trauma Recovery, Anger Management, Families in Recovery, or Process Interventions)
  • Educates client on both substance abuse issues as well as mental health concerns.
  • Assists client in the development of supportive transition & discharge planning.
  • Ensures adherence to program treatment philosophies and policies.
  • Assists with family education and engagement including facilitating the Family Engagement sessions.
  • Provide and facilitate referrals for clients and their family members
  • Participate in weekly clinical meetings to provide updates and assist in the decision making related to treatment planning and implementation.
  • Maintains client and program records in accordance with agency requirements and timelines
  • Provides crisis intervention counseling, with referrals to ongoing mental health services when needed.
  • Functions as a resource to the rest of the team on mental health related issues, and assist in the various components of this program.
  • Attends all trainings and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Participate in weekly supervision.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Two years experience working with a psychiatric/substance abusing/co-occurring population.
  • Experience with individuals dealing with homelessness, mental illness, domestic violence, trauma, and criminal justice system
  • Strong crisis management/intervention skills
  • Experience providing individual and group interventions to target population.
  • Strong verbal/written communication
  • Ability to work as both an effective team member and independently
  • Must have Independence of Judgment and be competent to complete and assist in mental health related assessments.
  • Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing techniques preferred
  • At least two years of experience in working with first and second stage trauma work
  • Familiarity in working in a strength based, trauma informed environment
  • Must be knowledgeable of HIPAA regulations and how to assess for need of mental health hospitalization. Valid Massachusetts Drivers License required
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position (see attached)
  • Ability to meet the training requirements of the position (see attached)

Education/Training required:

  • MSW, MA, or M.Ed. in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field required.
  • Independently licensed counselor, preferably an LMHC, LICSW or similar license preferred, or PhD.
  • CPR certified preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish / English, preferred.

Hours:

Flexible Hours. Program is open from 9-8pm (M-F). We are seeking to add Saturday hours.
