POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical/Dental Coordinator oversees all medical services at Bridge's main building on West Street in Boston and on the Mobile Medical Van. The coordinator supervises and manages medical and dental volunteers. Also oversees outreach workers when Outreach Coordinator is unavailable.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Management
- Cover van four nights a week.
- Work with the Street Outreach Team to ensure a safe environment on the van for clients, staff and medical volunteers.
- Reach out to substance abusing street youth and at-risk youth by bringing the van to established locations.
- Form relationships with youth and assess their needs, follow-up with clients, including advocacy, and refer youth to appropriate services at Bridge or other agencies.
- Ensure that the van is properly maintained, equipped and stocked.
- Recruit, orient, train and schedule medical and dental volunteers for the van and clinic so that programs are fully staffed for all scheduled times.
- Coordinate the dental clinic's upkeep and maintenance including general repairs, replacement of damaged equipment, routine cleaning and inventory of instruments, supplies and equipment.
- Ensure all records are in compliance with agency standards.
Administration
- Compile all medical and dental statistics and outcomes.
- Participate in weekly program meeting, biweekly Bridge program coordinators' meetings and other meetings as needed.
- Ensure that all clinic licenses and other necessary program documents are up to date.
- Conduct workshops and outreach to Bridge programs and other agencies to encourage use of the medical clinic and the dental clinic.
Public Relations
- Serve as liaison/advocate between the program and the community, other agencies, health care providers, dental schools, media, and supply companies.
Diversity
- Ensure that all of the program's activities and services are conducted in a manner that is sensitive to and shows respect for the cultural and ethnic diversity of all Bridge clients.
Other
- Other related tasks as required/requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and experience in coordinating a health/dental clinic or medical office.
- Knowledge of public health issues.
- Knowledge of youth street culture.
- At least two years' experience working with adolescents.
- Valid driver's license (car not required).
