Description:
The Hopey's Heart Foundation (HHF) was founded to prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest from claiming the lives of promising student athletes around the world. It is committed to providing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) both nationally and internationally for the prevention of heart and other injuries in student and amateur athletes through the provision of health education and medical equipment in schools, community and recreational centers.

This job is perfect for someone who is highly organized and enjoys behind-­the-­scenes work in support of a great cause. It offers the opportunity to become deeply engaged with fundamental processes of organizational development. This is a challenging position as you will have to juggle many different tasks and will develop a wide range of skills. The ideal candidate will be in
a position of significant responsibility. It will be an outstanding learning opportunity and a chance to make an enormous impact on youth and the health of communities by raising awareness for Sudden Cardiac Arrest and expanding the programs and resources to support the work.

The Deputy Director will be part of a small core team led by the Founder and Board Chairman.This position reports directly to the Executive Director and has joint supervisory responsibilities of the organization's staff. The Deputy Director works closely with the Chair and Executive Director on all aspects of the programs, day-­to-­ day operations, partnerships and grant development. In addition, the Deputy Director is expected to help build and manage funder
relationships. The Deputy Director will also develop and implement systems and processes to manage the Foundations of program to distribute AED units to communities across the globe.

Responsibilities:
Leadership:
● Proactively manage the day-­to-­day operations of the Foundation, including organizing internal office functions, budgeting and general administrative duties, and keeping minutes
● Supervise and manage HHF interns and ensure tasks are being completed and
resources are available
● Regularly report impact assessment results to HHF leadership and board
● Engage community and maintain visibility and relevance for HHF
Programmatic:
● Manage AED Grant Program with various partnerships (i.e. A, NYC agencies, sports leagues, schools, parks and community centers, etc)
● Research additional opportunities for HHF to implement AED placements
● Manage existing AED grant awardees by: tracking grants;; developing internal reporting systems;; writing reports;; maintaining excellent historical records
Development:
● Work with Chair and Executive Director to establish grantmaking calendar
● Set priorities for funding, manage grant development and funder relationships and oversee development resources and staff
● Assist in grant writing process
● Coordinate oversight of grants management systems, including assessments, ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and expectations

Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
● Detailed understanding of nonprofit management, fundraising and institutional development
● Experience with grantmaking and assessment methods
● Demonstrated experience to build relationships with individuals, current and potential stakeholders including grantees, institutional funders and other partners
● Proven success managing administrative and program staff and operations
● Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and communicate effectively
● Ability to work independently in a fast-­paced environment and to manage multiple priorities
● Well developed analytical and problem solving skills
● Proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint), knowledge of grant database management systems

● Fluent in social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat)
● Constantly on the lookout for opportunities to drive excellence on behalf of the Foundation and the organization
● Passion for giving back and helping others
