The Princeton University Art Museum is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join its team as Museum Assistant(Department Office Support).

The Museum Assistant provides key administrative support to the Museum in its diverse and ambitious programming and operations. This critical position serves as the first point of contact for the Museum's fast-paced executive offices, welcoming guests and fielding inquiries in person, on the phone, and by email from a wide range of constituencies including the general public, University colleagues, alumni, donors, artists, peer institutions, and community organizations.

Principal responsibilities of the Museum Assistant include: answering telephones and greeting visitors, proofreading and preparing correspondence, assisting with data entry for the Museum's donor data base, maintaining the Museum's SharePoint site, assisting with Museum special events and publications mailings, making travel arrangements, scheduling group meetings, preparing agendas, taking notes at meetings, managing maintenance and stock of office equipment and supplies, and mail distribution. The Museum Assistant also assists with areas of the Museum's business office, including purchasing via E-commerce web sites and recording and depositing revenues as a Museum cashier. Other special projects, especially in the area of support to the Office of the Director and the Museum's fundraising and cultivation efforts, will be assigned as needed.

The Museum Assistant reports to the Executive Assistant to the Director and Office Manager.

Job Requirements

Position Requires:

This position requires a minimum of 2-5 years work experience

Strong computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook)

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

Discretion, flexibility, strong organizational skills

Ability to multi-task and prioritize

Experience with cash handling

A strong customer-service orientation is essential

Associate's degree or equivalent experience required

The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check.

Preferred:

Experience working in an art museum, art gallery, or similar cultural institution is preferred. Experience with Princeton University's on-line systems, SharePoint, and Raiser's Edge is preferred. Bachelor's degree in art history or related field is preferred.
