SCO IS LOOKING FOR A WELL- QUALIFIED FFT!

Come and join a small team of therapists working to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ youth and their families through two SCO Programs: the Family Therapy Intervention Pilot (FTIP) Program, a community initiative to increase family support and positive mental health outcomes and decrease homelessness among LGBTQ youth; and the Close to Home (C2H) Program, a juvenile justice initiative dedicated to assisting youth reintegrate with their community and reunify with their families.

The FFT Therapist will provide intensive family therapy and crisis intervention to youth and their families using evidence-based clinical practices in the family home. Field work comprises majority of the therapist's time, but additional administrative requirements and supervision are an equally important component of the position. FFT therapists are clinically trained in FFT and carry a small caseload of approximately five families. This is a challenging, but rewarding position with support provided every step of the way. MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide intensive in-home counseling, support, and crisis intervention to youth and their families
  • Attend required initial and ongoing FFT training
  • Conduct FFT assessments and adhere to an evidence-based clinical program
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner
  • Engage, motivate, and design creative behavioral interventions for youth and families
  • Participate in approximately 4 hours of supervision on a weekly basis including group supervision, individual, and FFT case consultation*

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QULIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Education/Degree: Master's Degree, MSW preferred
  • Years of Experience: 3
  • Previous experience providing family therapy/in-home counseling and support to youth and their families; demonstrated strong clinical practice and skills
  • Previous experience working with LGBTQ youth; demonstrated knowledge of the challenges faced by LGBTQ youth at home, and in the community
  • Working knowledge of NYC's LGBTQ-serving CBOs and RHY organizations
  • Working knowledge of NYC's Juvenile Justice System and other preventative ACS programs
  • Flexible work schedule; evening and occasional weekend work is required!!!
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle a high work load, be accountable to grant auditors, and adhere to program deadlines
  • Bilingual a BIG plus
