THE ORGANIZATION

The Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding promotes mutual respect with practical programs that bridge religious difference and combat prejudice in areas of armed conflict, schools, workplaces, and health care settings. Tanenbaum is a secular and non-sectarian organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations Assistant will report to the Office Manager and to the Director of Operations & Finance. This is an excellent opportunity to grow professionally by supporting a busy Operations Department within a very dynamic not-for-profit organization.

This is a part-time position. The Operations Assistant will work approximately 21 hours a week, with the following responsibilities:

  • Greet all guests and answer phones.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Process general office emails.
  • Prepare for meetings, including tech set-up and purchasing food.
  • Assist with technical support.
  • Product research and vendor relations.
  • Compile information packages.
  • Track supplies and place orders.
  • Maintain common office areas, including conference rooms, kitchen and supply areas.
  • Process checks and credit card information.
  • Generate interoffice listing of incoming monies.
  • Process and mail paid bills.
  • Make bank deposits.
  • Print resumes and accompanying materials.
  • Schedule interviews.
  • Update staff internal and external contact information.
  • Coordinate general repairs and maintenance of equipment and appliances.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Commitment to the mission and goals of Tanenbaum.
  • BA or BS degree a plus.
  • Ability to present information clearly.
  • Must be computer proficient, especially with Windows OS, Outlook, Word, Access and Excel; familiarity with both PC and Mac a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Skill with computer technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication; organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-starter, flexible, motivated, and able to take initiative in all situations.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems, pay attention to details, and follow through.
  • Represent Tanenbaum in a professional manner at all times.
  • Sense of humor.

All work produced for Tanenbaum by the employee is the work product of Tanenbaum and may not be used by the employee outside of Tanenbaum-authorized activities.
