FAMILY ADVOCATE
Working with families and children to break the cycle of homelessness
The Partnership for the Homeless has an immediate opening at our Family Resource Center in East New York,Brooklyn, for a creative individual interested in joining a multidisciplinary team to assist homeless and formerly families, and families at-risk of homelessness, to break free from the cycle of need and enjoy the benefits of economic independence and long-term stability.
Working beyond crisis, the Family Advocate will partner with families to develop holistic plans that address long-term success, starting with housing stability and then focusing on such things as career development and health and wellness.
Because we see homelessness as a function of the failure of multiple social systems, the Family Advocate will also identify and work on the broader issues that are often obstacles to the success of the families we serve, working with other staff members and clients, community based organizations, and advocacy coalitions to develop strategies to break down these barriers.
The successful candidate must have experience working in the areas of social justice and poverty; a commitment to the mission and goals of the Partnership for the Homeless; and a willingness to work non-traditional hours and days to meet project needs. BA/BS and bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
