Description: Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the oldest and largest provider of HIV prevention, education, housing, advocacy and support services in Oregon and Southwest Washington. We are seeking an experienced Director of Development and Communications. Fulltime and exempt, this position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for fund-raising activities at Cascade AIDS Project. Cascade AIDS Project operates with a $6 million annual budget, of which approximately $1.3 million is raised from individuals (combination of events and donor solicitations), and approximately $300k from grants. The Director of Development and Communications oversees 2.75 staff including a Grants Coordinator, Development Specialist, and Events Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience working in a non-profit setting with management and development experience and a proven track record of success in fundraising. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of professional experience in fund-raising/development for non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills
  • Experience forging relationships with donors, potential donors, representatives of foundations and other organizations
  • Experience securing and maintaining sponsorships
  • Experience with planned giving strategies
  • Experience managing the creative process for collateral communications development for use in print and electronic mediums
  • Experience working under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor
  • Experience managing/coordinating a team responsible for carrying out complex functions, under pressure with absolute deadlines
  • Experience working with large public fund-raising events (Art Auction 1,350 participants, AIDS Walk Portland 11,000 participants)
  • Successful track record establishing and maintaining media contacts that result in sponsorship, earned media and news coverage
  • Successful experience working with ethnic, racial, sexual and economically diverse populations
  • Skill prioritizing work projects, meeting deadlines
  • Available to work evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the LGBTQ community
  • Familiarity with CRM programs, in particular Salesforce
  • Familiarity with web based fundraising programs, such as Greater Giving
  • Experience working as management in a unionized environment
  • Experience working with graphic designers, printers and mail houses

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 annual salary dependent upon qualifications and experience.
