Job description

Mandatory Requirements

  • Under general supervision of the Medical Director, ensures culturally competent access to clinical care and support services for Doctors of the World USA patients
  • Oversees registration of and determines eligibility of new patients
  • Schedules and checks in patients; handles and maintains medical records, and provides general administrative support
  • Manages the Inventory and purchasing of all clinic equipment and supplies under the direction of the Medical Director
  • Coordinates with other Doctors of the World USA staff to support clinic operations
  • Supervises administrative volunteers and other staff involved with the maintenance and upkeep of the clinic
  • With the Medical Director and Doctors of the World USA program staff, leads community engagement and advocacy activities for the Doctors of the World USA patient populations
  • Participates in meetings including quality of care, clinical training, and business management
  • Attends community based activities, including advocacy efforts for immigration reform, to eliminate homelessness, and to address disparities in healthcare as designated by Executive Director
  • Initial assignment of 20 hours per week across three days including Saturdays
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Additional qualifications

In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will possess most or all of the following:

  • Experience working with hard to reach populations, including the homeless, immigrants, HIV infected, substance users and/or the mentally ill
  • Desire and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to the delivery of high quality care
  • Rockaways resident, or individual with experience living and/or working in the Rockaways
  • Proficient in use of electronic medical record systems and other technology required for use in the delivery of care or demonstrated efficiency with paper charting and data systems
  • The spirit and desire to practice in a community based, interdisciplinary, mission driven system of care
  • Willingness to work off hours on special projects as reasonably dictated by Executive Director
