Summary
GOALS is seeking an experienced, dynamic new Country Director to develop and improve existing programs and help us continue to grow our organization to reach more children throughout Haiti. The Director must be comfortable working independently, open to challenges and able to collaborate with a wide range of people. This position will be available in Spring 2013.

The Country Director provides a high level of representation of GOALS in Haiti. The Director will manage and take responsibility for all GOALS-related activities in Haiti to ensure that all program, communication, financial and fundraising activities support GOALS' mission. About GOALS
GOALS is a non-profit organization that uses soccer to engage youth in soccer and community service in Haiti to improve quality of life today and develop new leadership for tomorrow. Activities are head-quartered in Léogane. GOALS is a registered American non-profit. Local staff consists of 18 Haitian leaders, and activities include local teams, summer camps, high school scholarships, public events, and community outreach. Responsibilities
The Country Director will develop programs, assure transparency and quality of activities, train staff, manage monitoring and evaluation, and conduct monthly reporting. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Additional responsibilities include supporting fundraising activities, promoting GOALS, maintaining partnerships and hosting volunteers and visitors. This is a full-time position based in Léogane, Haiti.

  • Program Development: manage, improve, and develop current soccer, service and education programs. Responsible for specific initiatives including girl-specific outreach, summer camps, community outreach, public events (i.e., tournaments) and activities for program alumni.
  • Transparency and Quality of Activities: assure program activities are of highest possible quality, meet deadlines, provide on-the-ground results, and build local capacity. Provide transparent, accurate information to participants, community members, staff, Board of Directors, donors and supporters.
  • Staff Training: train current staff, recruit new employees, manage contracts and benefits. Host volunteer groups and donors, oversee volunteer projects.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: design and administer tools to evaluate program impact and organizational capacity. Analyze data and incorporate recommended changes into programs and internal structures.
  • Reporting: Provide monthly reports on local programs, assist in writing reports for individual donors and foundations, provide necessary photos to supplement reports. Reports may include descriptions, media, and financial data.
  • Other: Additional responsibilities include supporting fundraising activities, promoting GOALS, maintaining partnerships and hosting volunteers and visitors.

Supervision
The Country Director will be the primary supervisor for all local staff and volunteers. He/she will report directly to the Executive Director and will work closely with the Board of Directors, donors, and partners.

Life with GOALS
This is a full-time position based in Léogane, Haiti. Hours and scheduling are flexible; typical workdays run from approximately 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday. Work is conducted primarily in Haitian Creole.

Opportunities
The Country Director will have ample opportunity to take a leadership position in GOALS' growth and direction. He/she will be able to design new projects and initiatives, conduct unique outreach programs in remote areas of Haiti, and may travel domestically or abroad, based on opportunity and resources. Qualifications
The Country Director must be a flexible, creative, independent leader who is capable of working in challenging circumstances. He/she must be passionate about Haiti's long-term development and committed to GOALS' work. A team spirit and sense of humor are essential.

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant field
  • Knowledge of Haiti and community-based development work, including program development, management experience, and monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the field
  • Highly proficient in Haitian Creole, French and English
  • Experience with budgeting, project development, proposal and report writing, and grants management
  • Significant leadership experience in project management, program administration and financial management
  • Experience in successfully using the media for social change
  • Excellent interpersonal, entrepreneurial, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with people at all levels, from high-level officials to community leaders Deep knowledge of and dedication to GOALS' work in Haiti, particularly in Léogane
  • Valid passport and driver's license
  • Clean background check

The ideal candidate will be willing to commit to a multi-year contract after an initial trial period.

Benefits and Compensation
The Country Director will make a difference in people's lives every day in Haiti. He/she will have flexibility of work hours, schedules, and specific initiatives. This position may offer many opportunities for growth based on performance, fit with GOALS, and time commitment. In addition to compensation and basic health benefits, GOALS will provide the Country Director with room and board, full-time access to the program vehicle, and a small vacation stipend every 90 days. Compensation will be based on experience within the range of $25,000-30,000 annually, with room for growth based on time commitment. This position will be available in Spring 2013.
