Job description

Capital City Public Charter School is seeking a talented Lower School Librarian (LSL) to organize and develop our Lower School library program in conjunction with our Director of Library Services. The LSL will also work with the Lower School Principal, the Middle/High School Librarian and the Library Assistant, as appropriate, to maintain the library environment, identify resources to support the curriculum, foster a school-wide love of books and literacy, and support students in developing age-appropriate information, media, and technology skills. The LSL will collaborate closely with classroom teachers to identify and develop curriculum materials and address the individual needs of students.

This is a 10-month position, which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Candidates must have a degree in library science, preferably with a certification in school library media. Candidates must possess a deep knowledge of current children's literature and educational media. Candidates should have strong collaboration skills and experience working with a variety of age groups in diverse and inclusive settings. Facility with technology and expertise at integrating technology into the curriculum are also important to this position. A background in early literacy and the ability to speak Spanish are desired.
