Job description

How would you like to help shape the way Health Information Technology (HIT) is used to improve the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, quality, and safety of medical care delivery to children and youth? The American Academy of Pediatrics' Department of Practice is looking for a creative and organized individual to manage and oversee one of its leadership entities responsible for promoting health information technology solutions related to pediatric friendly electronic health records (EHRs) and other technologies. This individual will specifically manage a council of over 450 members through an executive committee and activities of several sub-committees. This individual will support the development of guidelines that can be easily translated or embedded within an EHR; collaborate other AAP groups, public health agencies, and national organizations to promote the development and implementation of pediatric friendly EHR functionality and other health information technologies. In addition, this individual will be responsible for collaborating with other HIT staff to ensure coordination across activities and programs.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors degree in medical informatics, health care administration, public health, nursing, or equivalent work experience. Minimum 3 years experience in the development and management of health-related programs and/or campaigns essential, including grant writing, Web site management, budget management, and collaboration with internal/external groups. Experience working in the health care environment and/or health care association preferred, as well as experience with health information technology applications, health policy, and child health issues.

Must be detail and task oriented, highly efficient, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and autonomously. Strong project management, fiscal management, and computer skills (MS Office) required. Some travel and weekend work required.
