THE ORGANIZATION:
The Bootstrap Project is a 501(c)(3) start-up non-profit applying business principles to solve one of our world's most intractable problems: economic development. We're providing sustainable development by working with micro-entrepreneurs to help their companies scale.
We work with our clients with a holistic view of development, including:
- Skills training
- Financing, when appropriate
- Mentorship on business plan creation
- Raw material sourcing
- Design collaboration
- Access to global markets through online and retail channels.
THE POSITION
The Bootstrap Project is looking for a highly motivated and outstanding professional to assume a pivotal role in managing the organization's growth and evolution. The Executive Director will oversee our world-changing projects and champion the company as it expands globally. Candidate will be responsible for the growth of our portfolio of current projects and the team.
The Executive Director will report to the Founder/CEO and manage all departments of the organization. The primary responsibility of the CEO will be to create, manage and executive the the organizational plan. This will include developing overall organizational and departmental goals and tracking the achievement of those goals.
The Executive Director must have superb systems management and analytical skills as well as strong interpersonal and management experience. This person must be able to maximize resources and efficiency. This is a unique opportunity to become a key person in the growth of a young successful non-profit.
Responsibilities of the Executive Director:
- Represent the company in the public eye
- Hire a top-class team
- Lead the team to achieve company goals, including fundraising and development.
- Expand product categories
Desired Skills & Experience:
Leadership of The Bootstrap Project requires a comprehensive set of skills and abilities, but as the Board considers candidates, the following have been identified:
- Start-up mentality is a must
- Minimum 4 years experience in rapidly-growing technology, media or other business company.
- Passionate about economic development issues
- Experience building and leading teams that work remotely
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute an aggressive business strategy.
- Action-oriented, leans on data to make decisions.
- BA in policy or economics, MBA preferred, but not required
- Leadership skills to develop and mentor young, eager volunteers and interns.
