POSITION AVAILABLE: Assistant Director for Organization and Development—Position located in Rhode Island

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Common Cause RI

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Assistant Director works in collaboration with the Executive Director in a multi-faceted role. Primary functions include day-to-day administrative and office support duties and management and execution of all aspects of Common Cause's development program with opportunities to engage in community organizing. Position offers significant opportunity to expand the reach and influence of the organization. Organization: The Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating office operations. Tasks include managing and organizing volunteers and maintaining small office systems. Along with Executive Director the applicant is responsible for maintaining the website and writing action alerts to members, printed newsletters, solicitations and acknowledgments. As opportunity allows, Assistant Director will help organize and mobilize membership in support of the Common Cause mission both through social media and community-based events. Development: Responsible for carrying out Common Cause development program to ensure long-term viability of organization. Design and implement annual fundraising appeal with agreed goals and objectives, and submit written progress reports regularly to the Board. Support Board and Executive Director in their relationships with major donors and foundations. Coordinate development and educational events including all aspects of the Annual Meeting. Maintain and improve fundraising and membership databases including coordination with national office.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have demonstrated dedication to Common Cause mission of open, accountable, and ethical government for Rhode Island. A qualified applicant must have superior organizational skills and be able to execute a number of tasks simultaneously. As a primary contact for members, interns, and volunteers, an applicant must be people oriented, and have excellent communication and motivational skills. Ability to write clearly and persuasively and mastery of office technology, including social media, is a must. At least two years experience in a position requiring similar skills.
