The Fund for Public Health in New York, Inc. (FPHNY) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNY implements programs to address pressing public health needs, fosters private sector support to enhance health and health care, and helps educate the public regarding the protection of individual, family and community health.

The Nutrition Strategy Program at the NYC Health Department develops new models for serving healthful food in a range of venues, including but not limited to schools, hospitals, and restaurants. Leading the National Salt Reduction Initiative and developing innovative approaches to improving the food environment, such as the New York City Food Standards, are a key part of the program's activities. This position is currently funded through September 2014 with good potential for an extension.

It should be noted that any individual hired by FPHNY may become a DOHMH employee during the term of this grant support and is therefore subject to completion of all DOHMH qualification and New York City residency requirements and receipt of all necessary approvals.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Program seeks a Project Coordinator to help maintain and expand the Healthy Hospital Food Initiative (HHFI), which works with NYC hospitals to create a healthier food environment for employees, patients and visitors. Please visitherefor more information on the HHFI.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This Project Coordinator will conduct outreach, identify new partners, and engage existing partners to continue to improve their food environments. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for developing and managing high level partner relationships, convening meetings with partners, and managing multiple new relationships with senior level hospital administrators. This position provides support and maintains regular communication with hospital staff implementing the healthy guidelines. The position will also be responsible for writing other materials as needed, including policy briefs, research papers, and reviews of scientific articles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·A Masters Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Business, Public Policy, or equivalent

·A minimum of two years relevant experience, including significant experience working with multiple stakeholders

Preferred skills:

·Excellent written and oral communication skills

·Detail-oriented, organized, and creative

·Ability to interpret scientific data, research and policy reports

·Experience working in a fast-paced environment and juggling multiple priorities

·Ability to interact with senior level stakeholders

·Prior experience managing projects

·Experience and interest in public health, specifically nutrition and the hospital or food retail environment

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

FPHNY offers a comprehensive benefits package. The salary range for this position commensurate with experience and is dependent upon experience and salary history.
