The Director Corporate and Foundation Relations reports to the Vice President Constituent Relations and is responsible for increasing the visibility of NPF and identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporations, corporate foundations, and private foundations. The Director Corporate and Foundation Relations will be actively engaged in working to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with the corporate and foundation sector, as well as other key communities, that will result in funding for immediate and long-term goals of NPF. This position provides the expertise to advance NPF's interest by researching and identifying sources of support, proactively seeking opportunities to generate new proposals based on corporate guidelines and interests, and by maintaining strong communication ties with corporate and foundation donors and prospects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward new and existing corporate partnerships, while understanding the marketing and business needs of corporate and foundation partners.
  • Make initial outreach and schedule face-to-face meetings with prospective corporate funders to discuss NPF and present NPF program needs. Must be comfortable initiating discussions with business professionals at all levels and soliciting support both in person and over the phone.
  • Write corporate/foundations requests, sponsorship proposals and final reports, including working with program staff to create budgets.
  • Track and report corporate donor prospecting activities.
  • Develop creative giving opportunities for corporate donors/prospects.
  • Participate in strategy meetings for NPF and how to tap and expand corporate/foundation networks
  • Develop, implement, and manage ongoing communication and reporting to organizational supporters both offline and online.
  • Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation relationships by directing and coordinating activities related to obtaining corporate and foundation monetary support
  • Advise NPF staff, senior leadership on corporate and foundation areas of interest, cultivation of corporate and foundations special requirements in the development of their proposals.
  • Develop highly competitive proposals for corporate and foundation prospects and leverage diverse corporate and foundation goals and preferences in conjunction with NPF
  • Maintain a rigorous schedule of contacts with corporate and foundation representatives, creating moves management plans related to them, compelling, presentations and comprehensive fundraising proposals.

Experience/Skills Required

  • Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundations fundraising techniques required
  • Demonstrated ability in grant and proposal writing at appropriate levels for varied proposal development.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals are essential
  • Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professional in all circumstances
  • Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated record of success in generating significant commitments from corporations, foundations.
  • A bachelor's degree, CFRE certification preferred, and a minimum 2-5 years demonstrated successful corporate and/ or foundation fundraising experience.
  • Preference will be giving to candidates with corporate and/or foundation experience, particularly with the nonprofit community.
