Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program seeks a Physician to provide comprehensive, high quality primary, episodic, and respite care at BHCHP sites, working within BHCHP's clinical and administrative guidelines.
Responsibilities include coordinating patient care with onsite clinical staff at host institutions, including shelters, hospitals, detox facilities; referring patients when medically necessary for specialty, hospital, respite or other appropriate care; providing appropriate information for continuity of care. The physician in this position will provide direct patient care at least 32 hours/week, with the remaining 8 hours devoted to other clinical administrative duties such as lab follow-up, quality assurance, completion of patient forms, or attending team meetings. The physician will participate in collaborative and educational opportunities and will provide clinical supervision for nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants. The physician will be on staff at one of Boston's academic medical centers with opportunity to attend on the inpatient medical service 2-4 weeks a year and have opportunity to teach medical students and residents in various settings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.D. licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Board eligible or certified in family practice, internal medicine, or other appropriate specialty
- Interest in working within multidisciplinary teams to provide episodic and primary care to people experiencing homelessness
