Responsible for providing services to all Shalom's patients within the appropriate gender/age range of family medicine services. Family Medicine Physician will work under the supervision of the Medical Director/CMO to assess health priorities and identify needed services:
- Provide family medicine services to include primary care and urgent/acute care for all age groups.
- Provide access to sub-specialists through on-site services or referrals.
- Provide health education and screening to patients.
- Review at least 5% of colleagues' charts.
- Assists with quality assurance activities: Review charts from colleagues; attend monthly QA/QI Committee meetings; and attend in-services as requested by the Medical Director/CMO.
- Maintain understanding of all medical regulations and requirements.
- Complete all contract requirements and maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Develop medical plan and updates, as needed, for grant applications.
- Interpret rules, regulation, and guideline from various funding sources and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Experience & Qualification Requirements:
- Experience with serving the medical needs of minority populations.
- Strong community health/public health orientation.
- Two years' experience with providing patient care management.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
- Successful or near completion of internship and residency.
- Knowledge of health systems, preventive medicine concepts, practices, methods and techniques of family medicine.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws regulating medical profession.
- Admission privileges at area hospital.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Certifications/Licensures:
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
- Doctor of Medicine Specialty degree in family medicine.
- Board certified/eligible Family Medicine Physician.
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Indiana.
- Board certification or board eligibility in a primary care.
- Current CPR certification.

- Able to interpret Shalom's services and policies to patients and families.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Pass a physical examination after being offered employment and a health assessment annually, thereafter.
- Clear annual TB, influenza, and other communicable disease testing.
- Perform under pressure of patients and clinic staff needing assistance to meet deadlines.
- Reposition a bedbound patient alone, as needed.
- Exposure to indoor office florescent lights.
- Exposure to computer monitor.
- May be required to stand or sit for prolonged time period.
- May be required to bend stoop, kneel, pull, climb, reach, lift, and perform repetitive movements of the upper extremities.
- Requires normal hand-eye coordination and dexterity.

- Requires lifting up to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds infrequently.
