POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Title: Program Associate, Director of Studies Office

Location: Washington, DC office

Salary: Based on education and experience

The Council's David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country's largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Director of Studies office manages and administers staffing, budgeting, fundraising, and developing and implementing departmental procedures. The program associate will work under the direction of the director of editorial strategy and the deputy director for studies administration to help support the wide range of department activities. The principal responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the coordination, preparation, and publishing of written materials produced by the Studies Program, including CFR books, Council Special Reports, Policy Innovation Memoranda, and Working Papers.
  • Compiling and reviewing weekly reports and a monthly newsletter on behalf of the Studies Program and reviewing other Studies newsletters.
  • Tracking, maintaining, and reporting metrics on the reach and impact of Studies publications, blogs, newsletters, videos, and other social media efforts. Sharing best practices and tips with CFR's bloggers and tweeters.
  • Reviewing departmental documents for adherence to CFR style.
  • Posting fellow articles and op-eds onto CFR.org; assisting with various website features.
  • Assisting the full department with other administrative activities upon request, including preparing background materials, managing departmental files, and tracking departmental responses to institutional requests.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts with high academic credentials in a related field, including international relations, political science, history, area studies,English, or other.
  • One to two years of related experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Outstanding professional judgment and demeanor.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in word processing, Excel, and database management.
  • Social media skills a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail.
