ABOUT PUSH
PUSH - Preparing Urban Students for Success in High School and Higher Education was developed to improve high school and college graduation rates, as well as to develop college ready behaviors, realistic career goals and an understanding of the connections between college completion and job market competitiveness. PUSH High School is a year round program designed to develop and advance Boston High School students' leadership capacity, community citizenship and post-secondary educational opportunities. The program takes a developmental approach in helping students gain a college-going mindset that leads to college access and ultimately the successful completion of college. Additionally the program provides students a key opportunity to increase their academic skills as well as develop their voice in advocacy and leadership for effective change in their world through mobilizing their peers and community.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Overview
The PUSH High School Coach serves as a critical member of a growing team of professionals committed to the success of urban students in Boston. Specifically focusing on our work with high school students, this position works closely with local schools, community organizations and professional groups to implement the PUSH program to high school students year round. The PUSH High School Coach is responsible for one on one coaching of high school seniors through the college application process. The PUSH High School Coach is also expected to assist the PUSH High School Program Manager in planning and facilitating the PUSH High School curriculum as well as activities and events, including college fairs, tours, career explorations, leadership development workshops, and engagement events.
Summary of Responsibilities
-Work as part of the PUSH team to implement PUSH curricula in high schools and the community.
-Assist the Program Manager in the overall operations of the program including curriculum facilitation and
-Coach and facilitate Snowden International High School Seniors transition from PUSH High School to the PUSH College program
-Collaborate with the PUSH High School Program Manager to implement college tours, shadow professionals and college students, field trips, etc
-Provide the PUSH High School Program Manager with administrative support when tracking and managing student data
-Perform additional duties as required by the Program Manager
Summary of Qualifications:
The successful candidate will:
-Have a Bachelors Degree and experience working with urban youth in the field of education, youth development or social services
-Be a creative, positive, proactive and flexible professional with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Possess a genuine passion for working with urban youth in a direct care setting
-HaveStrong, organizational and effective written & communication skills
-Have Working knowledge of college application & financial aid process
-Have the ability to work some evenings and weekends.
