Part Time Teacher Assistant

Description

The Baby Haven Childcare Center (licensed and Qualistar rated) is located on the beautiful Ft. Logan campus in SW Denver (near Hampden & Federal) and provides high quality child care and early intervention services to the infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Services are provided to community families and families affiliated with the Addiction Research & Treatment Services organization (The Haven & Peer I). REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado Driver's License.
  • Must agree to a medical examination including chest X-ray or tuberculin test.
  • Must agree to fingerprinting and criminal background check. Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails).
  • Must have successfully completed Introduction to Early Child Education (ECE), Guidance Strategies or Pyramid Plus training.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Experience providing services to low income families or at risk children with a focus on women's issues (i.e. trauma; domestic violence; mental health treatment; parenting and child development; barriers women experience in treatment such as childcare, employment, finding a job that pays enough to support their family; etc.)
  • Experience providing group child care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers
  • Experience working with offender population
  • Experience working with drug exposed infants and toddlers
  • Experience executing administrative duties related to billing, office organization, and data entry using Microsoft Office programs

DUTIES:

  • Provide early care and education to all children enrolled in the Baby Haven Child Care Center
  • Meet all children's needs physically, socially and emotionally, cognitively by providing an enrich learning environment for infants, toddlers, and early preschoolers
  • Following all agency child care and licensing standards
  • Provide developmentally appropriate play and interaction with all children
  • Following curriculum guidelines
  • Coordinating services with The Harris Infant Mental Health Team, child development staff and The Haven treatment team
  • Communicating to Haven staff about issues related to a child's health or parenting/behavioral concerns for residential families participating at the Center.
  • Provide regular feedback to families through face to face meetings, family conversations, and quarterly developmental updates.
  • Assist classroom teachers with the education of students by implementing lesson plans; updating children information in their classroom files; ensure the safety and maintenance of materials and supplies; help the children reach their developmental objectives and suggest alternatives or modification to the teacher or director as needed; and perform related work as assigned or required.

DAYS AND HOURS:

Hours of operation are Monday- Friday, 6 am-6pm. Work schedule will vary.
