Job description

Overview:

Employment Specialist will work directly with Iraqi job-seekers to assist in finding and applying for jobs, and coordinating job interviews and applications. This person will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Employment Services. Position contingent on grant funding. This is a HALF-TIME position with potential to extend to full-time contingent on funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Seek out employment opportunities for Iraqi refugees
  • Identify and develop employment prospects
  • Schedule interviews and accompany clients to interviews as needed
  • Complete employment and education applications as needed
  • Assist with resume creation, interviewing, and workplace readiness skills
  • Refer clients to ESL and other education programs as needed
  • Track and coordinate other referrals and service provisions as needed to accomplish clients' service plans.
  • Maintain client records and case files using Salesforce

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong knowledge of American workplace and job market
  • Experience with refugee populations
  • Valid US driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • Six months or more experience in job development, career counseling, or social work
  • Familiarity with Middle Eastern language and culture
  • Working knowledge of Arabic, Iraqi dialect preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to work with computer databases; knowledge of SalesForce a plus
