The Vice President of Community Outreach manages the Trust's major initiative to build a broad base of supporters using local engagement events, call-to-action campaigns and web resources. The Vice President is a key partner with our Preservation Division in managing outreach on selected "National Treasure" projects. S/he manages the principal web outreach tools of the Trust: PreservationNation.org and SavingPlaces.org. In addition, this position will supervise the launch of a Trust volunteer program. This position collaborates with all areas of the Trust and serves on the Trust's Leadership Team.
DUTIES
- Creates campaigns, programs and tools to build the Trust's list of networked supporters (Preservation Allies), working to increase both the size and diversity of the network.
- Works with other departments and divisions to develop outreach support for engagement, volunteerism and fundraising for selected National Treasure projects. Acts as a key partner with Regional Vice-Presidents and the Marketing Leadership Team in this effort.
- Sets strategy for PreservationNation.org and SavingPlaces.org and works collaboratively with other departments and divisions on content for those websites.
- Provides leadership to other departments and divisions of the Trust on technical support of mobile platforms, social media and websites.
- Meets revenue goals from non-member online and event fundraising. Works with the Membership Department to convert Preservation Allies to Members and to service members online.
- Supervises technical staff supporting the websites of the Trust and manages web development as needed to meet organizational needs.
- Assures that Trust digital assets are driven from metrics-based objectives.
- Works with the CMO to help launch the volunteer program at the Trust.
- Supervises all aspects of the Community Outreach department, including making decisions regarding: Hiring/firing, staffing, budgeting, professional development, performance management and team management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 10 years of professional level experience managing large, cross-functional projects and teams at the national level in a fast-paced organization, preferably within a non-profit setting, including experience with public relations, budgeting, staffing, supervising professionals. Proven track record of leading teams to generate high quality results.
- At least 5 years of experience managing digital and direct response campaigns. Demonstrated ability to build new digital strategies, channels, and campaigns including a strong working knowledge of web technologies, content management systems, design platforms, fundraising applications and advocacy tools.
- Advanced analytical skills, problem solving (issue identification and prioritization) skills, communication and presentation skills are essential for this role.
- Advanced project-management, team-management and client-management skills. Ability to achieve results with minimal supervision.
- Experience supervising management-level staff, as well as managing key external stakeholders and relationships.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and skill set essential.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment
- Demonstrated success in marketing to and engaging culturally diverse audiences and partners.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent years of experience) required. Master's degree in related field strongly preferred.
