POSITION: Coordinator of English Language Learning
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
STATUS: Full Time
U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), a nongovernmental, not-for-profit national organization dedicated to addressing the needs and rights of refugees and immigrants, seeks a Coordinator of ESL for its Vermont field office. This field office operates as a refugee resettlement program and employment program for refugees, asylees and victims of trafficking, as well as immigration counseling, interpretation/translation services, community education programs and legal services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Coordinator of ELL will develop the ELL curriculum, supervise English language instructors and coordinate classes, train and supervise tutors, determine client English proficiency and develop individual plans, prepare narrative and statistical reports, and conduct outreach activities with community organizations. The ELL Coordinator will handle case documentation online and in paper files as well as program reporting. Other duties may be assigned by the Director.
REQUIREMENTS:
We are seeking a candidate with strong organizational skills who is able to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Successful applicants will have excellent interpersonal and team-oriented skills, ability to work independently, and superior communication skills with new Americans, staff, and service providers. Requirements include MATESOL, MS Office proficiency, driver's license, clean driving record, and personal transportation. Prior experience with teaching English to speakers of other languages and refugee resettlement is preferred. The candidate must have dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers and displaced people.
