Special Projects Coordinator

Position Overview:

The Special Projects Coordinator will provide support and coordination for a new product development partnership. This will include updating and revising product development plans, and ensuring that all involved staff has clear next steps and the information necessary to move the product development initiative forward. The Coordinator will also work with staff within our partner organization, ensuring effective communications, updates, and meeting schedules. In addition, the Coordinator will serve as the content manager for all of the New Leaders content from the EPIC Knowledge System – a series of videos and narrative profiles of effective school leadership practice from across the country.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a content librarian supporting all innovative partnerships and services engagements. Identifying relevant content (video clips, artifacts, cases) from the EPIC Knowledge System and making recommendations based on identified topic areas and needs. Conducting outreach to New Leaders staff to identify recommendations of high-quality EPIC content.
  • Structuring and organizing materials, collating and synthesizing comments from New Leaders staff and consultant content experts to inform content development.
  • Coordinating operational logistics including tools for structuring and tracking roles and responsibilities and different project initiatives. Managing all processes for invoicing and basic budget tracking related to the initiatives. Updating project plans and coordination documents as requested.
  • Scheduling meetings, creating and disseminating meeting agendas and relevant documents for review, crafting materials/minutes from partnership meetings, ensuring awareness of action items and following up with those responsible with deadline reminders when necessary
  • Creating regular initiative updates for New Leaders Executive Team, NL Board of Directors, and all staff involved in the initiative. Support Relationship Managers in creating update materials for Steering Committee meetings.
  • Managing all communications with partner districts and charter schools around content needs and uses.
  • Facilitating material and content transfer to external partners and program users.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate commitment to the mission of New Leaders, which is to ensure high academic achievement for all children, especially students in poverty and students of color, by developing transformational school leaders and advancing the policies and practices that allow great leaders to succeed
  • Excellent project management and problem solving skills and the ability to be self-directed
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively across teams and organizations
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build/cultivate personal relationships and relate to people from diverse backgrounds, sectors, and experiences
  • Ability to learn quickly and succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint/Word
  • Experience with web-based content management systems (Wiki structures, Salesforce) preferred
  • Experience with web-based research (ie: Google) and basic delivery of clean HTML coding for front-end web-based interfaces a plus
  • 2 years related professional experience, BA required
  • Experience in the K-12 urban education sector, or a strong familiarity with the issues and challenges of K-12 education; knowledge of the content base around school leadership a significant plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate projects and take initiative
