Pure Love Expressed

Pure Love Expressed is a non-profit organization located in Kenya with the mission of eradicating the transmission of HIV from mother to child through providing impoverished HIV positive mothers with healthy donated breast milk.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, due to the high cost of formula, poor HIV positive mothers choose to breast feed their infants rather than watching them suffer from malnutrition or risking starvation. In the absence of any intervention, one-third to one-half of mother-to-child transmission occurs through breast feeding.

Pure Love Expressed works with mothers in the community to provide healthy breast milk to the HIV positive mothers as an alternative food source to expensive formula or their own breast milk. Through this intervention, Pure Love Expressed hopes to help HIV positive mothers provide healthy breast milk for their infants while ensuring that the children remain HIV negative.
