The Global Network of People living with HIV (GNP+) was founded in 1986. We have offices in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and Cape Town, South Africa. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV. We seek to achieve our mission by facilitating equitable access to treatment, care and support services for people living with HIV around the world. Our activities in support of this goal fall into three principal, mutually supporting programme areas: advocacy; knowledge management; and community development. The promotion of human rights, leadership and the meaningful involvement of people living with HIV cuts across and underpins all of our work.
GNP+’s work focuses on themes that people living with HIV have identified as of crucial importance to their lives: access to treatment, care and support; promoting the rights of people living with HIV, including their sexual and reproductive health and rights; prevention of perinatal transmission of HIV; social protection for people living with HIV; elimination of stigma and rights violations, including at the work place; promoting the greater involvement of people living with HIV (GIPA principle) and the leadership of young people living with HIV.
