About Us

At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

In 1855, the YMCA of Central Ohio opened its first branch in downtown Columbus. Today the YMCA of Central Ohio has expanded to twelve branches, two outdoor centers, two residential centers, a homeless shelter, two full day Early Learning Centers, the Early Childhood Resource Network, and approximately 60 school-age child care sites, all of which serve the needs of men, women, and children of all ages from diverse socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. The YMCA of Central Ohio serves over 200,000 persons and families annually located throughout Franklin, Pickaway, Delaware, Logan and Madison counties. These 200,000 persons participate in a variety of services, which are open to any consumer regardless of ability to pay, due to financial assistance provided by the YMCA of Central Ohio.
