The Freshwater Project

About Us

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization that does preservation and community engagement in the historically black West Palm Beach community once known as Freshwater. Our headquarters is at the 1926 home of James "Jerome" Cracker Johnson, a wealthy mixed-race businessman who was one of the city's most colorful historic figures. We are using a variety of innovative approaches to build on the community's rich past to build a better future.
