About Us

APT DC is a not-for-profit educational association founded in 1980 to serve the needs of preservationists in the greater Washington DC metro area. APT DC is a local chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APTI). APTI was founded in 1968 to disseminate information on historic building materials and systems and to promote development of preservation technology. APT DC promotes the exchange of ideas and knowledge concerning the conservation of historic resources and the application of preservation technology. We offer tours, lectures and workshops and promote exchanges with other local groups with similar interests. APT DC also hosts an annual symposium and publishes several newsletters a year to further knowledge about the preservation field. APT members include architects, engineers, contractors, tradesmen and members of the general public.
