About us

Founded in 1891, the Beverly Historical Society and Museum's mission is to preserve, interpret and present the history of the city of Beverly, Massachusetts. BHS owns and maintains 3 historic properties: Balch House, Hale House and Cabot House (the Society headquarters and museum). We are known for our rich collections, especially in the areas of maritime history and genealogical records. A unique feature of BHS is the renowned Walker Transportation Collection, housed in the lower level of Cabot House. Current projects include: upgrading and expanding educational programs for youths and adults; undertaking a campaign to preserve and restore our buildings; and putting together a new rotating exhibits.
