About Us

Multicultural Refugee Coalition is a long-term support network for refugees settled to the Austin area bridging the gap between their initial resettlement and long-term success. We are on a mission to empower refugees towards self-sufficiency through education, community and reconciliation.

MRC was founded by 2 Liberian refugees and 2 American women to help form a stronger and more welcoming community for refugees and help them to succeed. We have 2 program areas- "Community Deveopment"- includes gardening, sewing and children. "Pathways to Self-Sufficiency" includes ESL, Computer Literacy, Job Skills and Professional Recertification.

We have a community center in the heart of the refugee community at 183 and North Lamar. We teach ESL on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 6-8pm, Job Skills and Computers on Tuesdays from 11am-1pm, and all programs on Saturdays from 12-3pm.

Our volunteer application is found on our website: www.mrcaustin.org/get-involved-2. We have volunteer orientations on the first Saturday of each month from 11am-12pm. We look forward to meeting you!
