The New York State AFL-CIO, in partnership with the Consortium for Worker Education (CWE), developed the Workforce Development Institute (WDI) to provide education and training, dislocated worker services, cultural, economic and workforce development programs supporting working families across New York State. The WDI supports Area Labor Federations through regional Workforce Development Centers (WDC). WDCs offer strategic planning, community audits, technical support, analysis and dissemination of information, facilitated childcare enrollment services. Programs are funded through a combination of resources available from New York State government.
