About us

The Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1974 to promote the welfare of the desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) in its native wild state.
The Committee raises funds to acquire land in habitat designated as critical for the desert tortoise to use as preserves, develops and implements management programs for tortoise preserves and adjacent areas, fosters tortoise research, and runs public education programs.
