About Us

The Canadian Centre for International Justice/Centre canadien pour la justice internationale (CCIJ/CCJI) was founded in 2000 by a group of Canadians and organizations seeking to ensure that those present in Canada and accused of committing atrocities, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and torture, are brought to justice, and survivors of such atrocities with a connection to Canada are supported and compensated. The organization was founded by, among others, Amnesty International-Canada and the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture, which maintain representation on the Board of Directors. It is an independent, not-for-profit organization with charitable status.
