About Us

In January of 2009, a group of devoted supporters incorporate the non-profit Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy. Modeled after the successful public/private partnerships which have shepherded the transformation and quality maintenance of Central Park and Prosept Park, the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy is a non-profit organzation whose goal is to build support during these tough economic times and raise significant funding for capital improvements as well as staffing assistance. The City provides over $4 million annualy to operate the park at its current level and, by combining efforts with the Conservancy, there is potential for the park to operate at a higher level.

Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy's mission is to sustain and enhance the park as a vibrant destination for recreation, leisure and the enjoyment of natural landscapes. In partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, the Conservancy aims to help maintain, preserve and program Van Cortlandt Park through fundraising efforts as well as public outreach.
